Making Money With Audio Books – Part Five

In part four we discussed membership sites, courses and mailing lists. Today we will stay with that theme for this chapter.

Podcasting and Streaming media

In today’s world everyone wants everything right away the technology that we design is to cater for those desires. Podcasting and Streaming media are two different types of technology but the end results are the same – they both aim to give the consumer the end product immediately – but using different methods.

Podcasting

A Podcast is a method for broadcasting audio using the Internet. Podcasting is an ideal medium for membership sites and courses. This is an electronic method in which to deliver media files (via a download) to an end user at regular intervals. The listener does not need any additional software for this because they can play their audio straight form their web browser or iPod. The benefits of using this type of technology is that the end-user gets immediate access to the data so your business could be automated, and after the initial set up has been completed there is very little else to do. Another benefit to using this type of media is that you can record you own advertising within the podcasts promoting your other courses and products.

Streaming Media

Streaming media is another method in which you can use to give the end user immediate access to an audio file. The media file can be listened to whilst it is still being streamed from their server (Nb – this is not the same as downloading as used by podcasting). So again, the listener gains immediate access to the content which can be saved to a PC or played back using a MP3 player.

Converting audio books into a Podcasting is quite straightforward. You can now download free software to create audio podcasts from the Internet; just do a search for ‘Podcasting Software’ on Google. Streaming audio files for MP3 players is a great way for anyone to listen to audio book courses while travelling on the train or driving in your car, the point of this type of technology is that you can listen to it anywhere.

In the next chapter we will be discussing ‘making money with Audio books using Joint Ventures (JV) as a business model.
